Large Item Pickup Program Updates

March 2020 | COVID-19 Update: Help Protect our Waste Collection Workers

Effective March 30th, 2020, in order to prioritize waste collection services, the Large Item Pick Up Program will be suspended until further notice.

Any large item scheduled for pickup on or after this date, will be rescheduled for pickup at a later date.  If you have placed your items at curbside, please bring your items in until this service resumes. The City’s contractor will be contacting residents to reschedule the pickup of previously scheduled items. Alternatively, for a list of disposal locations and options, please visit

These measures have been in place to protect our waste collection workers and ensure they can carry out their duties safely during this time. We appreciate your patience and understanding. Please visit for more information and tips to reduce your waste and to follow any other changes to waste collection services.

October 2019

On October 16, 2019 we launched a new online service to make scheduling your pick up appointment more convenient. We've also made some updates to the program itself.

Now, all households that receive City of Surrey curbside collection are now eligible for the service. These households can schedule up to 6 items a year instead of 4. Households with registered secondary suites are now eligible for up to 8 scheduled items per year.

We have expanded the list of accepted items and categories. See full list of accepted items below.

Schedule a Large Item Pickup

  1. Review our list of accepted items to ensure your item qualifies
  2. Book an appointment online or call 604-590-7289 (Option 3). Provide details or photos of  your item to help speed up the process.
    Book Large Item Pickup
  3. Our contractor will contact you to provide a date and time for pickup.
  4. On the day of your appointment (or the evening before), place the large items at the curb or in your back lane. Please ensure all items are at your collection location by 7:30 am.

Each year, your item count starts from zero. This means you can't “carry forward” the unused quota from the past years.
